Day 1 appearance at Bagdogra – Into the Nature of Dooars

Your Bhutan motorcycle adventure begins with your appearance at Bagdogra Airport, where you are warmly ate and transferred to a hostel in Siliguri. Once the group assembles, you are introduced to your bikes — your companions for the coming two weeks. A briefing on the road rules and business conditions follows, after which you ride into the lush, emerald breadth of the Dooars region, the Himalayan foothills known for their thick timbers and tea estates. In the evening, over a pleasurable Indian regale, essential paperwork for Bhutan immigration is completed.

Day 2 Lift to the Border – Siliguri to Phuentsholing( Bhutan Entry)
The coming morning, you start beforehand for the border city of Phuntsholing, riding through the alluring timbers and winding roads of Dooars. Along the way, you pass graphic tea auditoriums producing the world- notorious Darjeeling tea, stopping for a mug of original chai in scenic spots. After navigating North Bengal municipalities, you reach Jaigaon and cross into Bhutan’s Phuntsholing by around 10 AM. Then, you complete your immigration and vehicle permit formalities, marking your first true step into Bhutan’s unique culture and calm. The evening is spent soaking in the quiet charm of this Bhutanese border city.

Day 3 Phuentsholing to Thimphu – Into the Heart of Bhutan

On the third day, you set off with packed breakfasts for a lift into Bhutan’s innards, moving from the warm, tableland climate to the cooler mounds as you approach Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. The lift is an exhilarating blend of misty angles and scenic tea stops. You pass permit checkpoints along the way before descending into Thimphu’s vale. Arriving by late autumn, you’re introduced to the megacity’s peculiar charm — no business lights and a harmonious mix of ultramodern life and deep- confirmed tradition. Thimphu is also where you’ll process permits for your trip further east.

The steep yet fulfilling journey leads to a cliffside friary offering indelible views and spiritual energy. For those not touring, Paro offers quiet lifts to the Dzong or simply a comforting day by a mountain sluice or enjoying the serenity of your resort. It’s a slower day to connect with Bhutan’s pensive meter.

The lift continues to Punakha, stopping en route at Chimi Lhakhang — the Temple of the Divine Madman where you learn about Bhutan’s quirky phallic symbolism. After winding through vill roads, you reach the majestic Punakha Dzong. However, you explore it in the evening, or differently defer the visit to the coming morning, If time permits. Your resort sits on a hill overlooking the Punakha Valley, offering peace and card- good views.

Day 7 Punakha to Phobjikha Valley – Into the Crane’s World
The seventh day takes you on a grueling but satisfying lift to the high- altitude glacial vale of Phobjikha, home to the risked black- necked cranes that resettle from Tibet in downtime. The road conditions are rough due to ongoing construction, but the girding beauty and untouched nature further than make up for it. In the evening, you tromp to Gangtey Monastery and hear to original tales about the mystical cranes. The peacefulness of this vale, free of power lines and civic noise, leaves a lasting print.

Day 8 Ride to Trongsa and Bumthang – The Cultural Core

Day eight is a spectacular ride through Central Bhutan’s winding roads as you head toward Trongsa and eventually Bumthang. The route is dotted with dramatic mountain passes, ancient forests, and remote villages. Trongsa Dzong appears dramatically as you descend into the valley for a lunch stop. Later, continuing your ride, you pass archery grounds and farms, finally entering the pastoral Bumthang valley—often compared to the Swiss countryside. If time allows, you stop at the Red Panda Brewery to sample local craft beer before settling into your hilltop resort.

Day 9 Bumthang to Mongar – Into the East

The ninth day is a long and immersive ride through remote eastern Bhutan as you make your way to Mongar. The morning may begin with a visit to one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, then the ride takes you across the stunning Ura Valley and into areas so pristine, you may feel completely alone with nature. The vistas of cloud valleys and high passes leave you breathless, and the thin but smooth roads make for a meditative ride. You end your day in the quaint hilltop town of Mongar, where the peaceful ambiance and simplicity of life embrace you.

Day 10 Mongar to Trashigang – The Eastern Frontier

On day ten, you enjoy a slower morning, wandering through Mongar’s sleepy market before riding further east to Trashigang, Bhutan’s easternmost district. The route is scenic, with dramatic changes in landscape and vegetation. You reach a lodge perched high above, offering stunning views for a peaceful overnight stay in Trashigang, a town that bridges tradition and the first signs of modernization in this region.

Day 11 Exit Bhutan – Ride to Samdrup Jongkhar or Manas National Park

The eleventh day is a transition back toward India. You ride from Trashigang to the border town of Samdrup Jongkhar, or possibly even into Assam’s Manas National Park, depending on time and weather. The day’s ride takes you through the changing climates and altitudes—starting cool and ending warm and humid. The roads may be rough near the border, but the return to India is filled with rich memories and stories. You settle into a lodge in Samdrup Jongkhar or Manas, depending on your chosen route.

Day 12 Ride to Siliguri – Farewell Himalayan Roads

On day twelve, you begin your final ride back to Siliguri. It’s a long but scenic stretch across rural Assam and North Bengal, dotted with tea gardens, winding rivers, and local village life. By afternoon, you reach your hotel in Siliguri where your journey comes full circle.

Day 13  Departure – Or Optional Darjeeling/Gangtok Extension

If you wish to extend your trip, optional add-ons to Darjeeling or Gangtok can be arranged. This journey through the Indian foothills and deep into the heart of Bhutan is more than a motorcycle tour—it is a soul-stirring experience through landscapes both physical and spiritual.
