Day 1: Welcome to Bhutan – Arrival in Paro & Transfer to Thimphu
As you descend into Paro International Airport, the breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks set the tone for your Bhutanese adventure. Upon arrival, our warm-hearted guide and driver from Authentic Bhutan Tours will greet you with a traditional welcome.
After a short introduction, we embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s vibrant capital, passing through lush valleys, serene rivers, and traditional villages. The 1-hour 10-minute journey (47 km) offers your first glimpse of Bhutan’s untouched landscapes and cultural beauty.
Upon reaching Thimphu, check into your hotel and unwind. In the evening, enjoy a delicious vegetarian Bhutanese dinner, featuring local delicacies such as Ema Datshi (chili cheese), red rice, and fresh organic vegetables.

Day 2: Exploring Thimphu’s Cultural and Spiritual Wonders

Our first stop is the National Memorial Chorten, a revered Buddhist stupa where locals gather for prayers and meditation. Next, we visit the majestic Buddha Dordenma, a 51.5-meter golden statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, offering panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley.
We then explore Changangkha Lhakhang, an ancient hilltop monastery where locals bring newborns for blessings. A short drive takes us to the Takin Reserve, home to Bhutan’s unique national animal, the Takin, a fascinating blend of a goat and an ox.
After lunch, we delve into Bhutan’s artistic heritage at Zorig Chusum, the traditional arts and crafts school, followed by the National Library, housing ancient Buddhist scriptures. Our day concludes at The Royal Textile Museum, showcasing Bhutan’s intricate weaving traditions.

Our first stop is Dochula Pass (3,150m), where 108 memorial stupas stand against a breathtaking Himalayan backdrop. If the weather is clear, you’ll witness spectacular views of the Eastern Himalayan ranges.
Descending into the fertile Punakha Valley, we visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s most stunning fortress. Nestled between the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, this dzong boasts intricate wooden architecture and historical significance as the site of Bhutan’s royal coronations.
Next, we take a short hike through golden rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, famously known as the Temple of Fertility, built in honor of the Divine Madman, Lama Drukpa Kunley.
