Travelers from India can reach Paro from major Indian cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Bodh Gaya, and Guwahati. After reaching Paro, domestic flights are available to Bumthang, making air travel the quickest way to reach this serene destination.

By Train

While Bhutan does not have a direct railway link with India, you can reach Bumthang by taking a train to Hasimara Railway Station in West Bengal. From Hasimara, drive to the Indo-Bhutan border town of Jaigaon and cross into Bhutan via Phuentsholing. From there, a road journey along the Bumthang-Ura Highway will bring you to Bumthang.

By Road

To reach Bumthang by road, the easiest route is from Jaigaon in West Bengal. After obtaining a visa at the Indo-Bhutan border, you can drive through Phuentsholing and take the Ura-Bumthang Highway, covering around 409 kilometers (approximately 12 hours). Another entry point is Gelephu, located about 50 kilometers from Bongaigaon in Assam. From Gelephu, follow the Wangdue-Tsirang Highway for about 380 kilometers (approximately 11 hours) to reach Bumthang.
