Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our representatives and transferred to the capital city Thimphu. Sightseeing includes visits to Memorial Chorten and Tashi Choe Dzong, the seat of government. Overnight at Thimphu in a hotel.
In the morning, drive north of Thimphu to hike to Tango Monastery (2 hours). The hike, mostly through oak forests, leads to a beautiful monastery. Return to visit a local village of Kabisa or Babina for a glimpse of Bhutanese village life. In the afternoon, tour the Folk Heritage Museum, Textile Academy, Farmers’ Market, and Changlimithang ground to spectate archery in progress.
Drive uphill to Dochula Pass (3,100 meters) for panoramic views of the Bhutanese peaks. Continue towards Punakha and Wangdue valley via Pelela Pass. Take a diversion road into Phobjikha Valley, a winter home for black-necked cranes. Overnight in a hotel in Gangtey.
Visit Gangtey Gompa, a Nyingma monastery, and take a nature trail around crane roosting grounds. Explore local villages and the Nature Information Center. Drive to Punakha, stopping at Ewakha village and Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple). Visit Punakha Dzong before an overnight stay in a hotel or traditional farmhouse.
Explore Talo and Nobgang villages. Interact with locals, visit vegetable and flower gardens, and enjoy traditional Bhutanese tea. Optionally, take a village hike to Punakha Dzong. Overnight in Punakha in a hotel or farmhouse.
After breakfast, drive back via Dochula Pass to Thimphu and continue to Haa Valley. Along the way, stop at several villages and hike to Lungchutsi Monastery. In Haa, visit Chebri village and stay in a traditional farmhouse converted into a modern lodge. Enjoy a traditional hot stone bath and local liquor (Ara). Overnight in Haa.
On the way to Paro, stop at Chele La Pass, the highest motorable road in Bhutan. Visit Kila Gompa nunnery and local villages in Paro. Overnight in Paro in a hotel or farmhouse.
Hike to the famous Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery. Options are available for hiring riding ponies/mules to the viewpoint. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner. Overnight in Paro in a hotel or farmhouse.
Transfer to Paro Airport for your departure flight. Bid farewell to Bhutan.
